Because Connecticut runs a unified correctional system, there is no separate New London County sheriff VINE roster to choose.

The state landing page leads to the current Connecticut search application and gives the VINE telephone route. It does not create a countywide list of recent releases.
Coverage follows participating agency data, not county borders. A New London County case may connect to Corrigan, York, another CT DOC facility, or a court release. The person’s location and custody agency matter more than the county name alone. CT SAVIN can notify on a qualifying status change, while the underlying DOC or court record explains the legal and custody event in greater detail.

If the search returns no match, try a careful spelling change and verify that Connecticut is selected. Then move to the source that fits the case. Search CT DOC for a state custody record. Search Judicial Branch records for a bond, dismissal, sentence, or court discharge. Use BOP for a federal sentence and ICE for immigration detention. Repeated VINELink searches cannot fill a gap caused by a different custody system.

VINELink presents information supplied through custody feeds. Exact labels can differ by record and current interface. A released or out-of-custody result is a useful notification clue, but the record must still be matched to the correct person. Keep the status separate from a court finding or a complete correctional history.

A blank field should remain blank in the reader’s conclusion. Do not infer a release date, destination, or supervision term that the live record does not show.
Released status and current custody status answer a narrow question. They do not show that all charges ended, that a sentence was erased, or that supervision has closed. A person may leave a facility for parole, special parole, transitional supervision, a community placement, a court discharge, another jurisdiction, or a federal hold. The agency and event fields help separate those outcomes.

Contact details entered for an alert are not part of the public custody record. Use a route that can be checked and keep any confirmation instructions.

An alert is only as current as the participating agency feed. If a planned court event has passed without a message, check the VINELink record again and compare it with the court docket or CT DOC result. Do not create several registrations for uncertain name matches. First identify the person through date of birth, offender number, facility, or another displayed fact, then keep the confirmation tied to that one record.
Connecticut Release Alert Events
Connecticut adds a local vocabulary to release notifications. The CT DOC Victim Services Unit identifies accused-status events such as bond out from a correctional facility, discharge from court, escape, and return to custody. Its post-conviction program identifies parole hearing dates, community-release reviews, community placements, end-of-sentence notifications, absconding, escape, return to custody, and death.
These terms show why one “release” label cannot explain every case. Bond out and court discharge concern accused status. End of sentence concerns a completed term. Community release may place a person outside a facility while state oversight continues. Absconding means leaving supervision without authorization, not a lawful discharge. Read the event name first, then confirm the agency and destination.
CT DOC Victim Services is separate from a general VINELink person search, though both deal with status changes. Its accused-status and post-conviction programs show the events Connecticut treats as significant. A parole hearing notice is not a parole grant. A community-release review is not the placement itself. An end-of-sentence notice is different from a transfer. Precise event language avoids turning a notice about a pending step into a claim that release already occurred.

New London VINELink Release Limits
VINELink is not a complete historical archive. Agency data can arrive late. A record can fall outside visible retention, use a different spelling, or belong to a system that does not feed the Connecticut search. Youthful-offender, sealed, erased, and other restricted records may not appear. A missing result therefore means only that no matching visible VINE record was found at that time.
For a current or recent CT DOC connection, use the department’s inmate search and Public Information Office. A short court release may be clearer in the Judicial Branch docket. CT DOC’s public inmate information is designed for people currently incarcerated with the department. It is updated daily and may not reflect a fast change at once. The public database also excludes youthful-offender information and people held for ICE. Those scope rules explain some missing or delayed results and show why a VINE status should be checked against the correct state, court, or federal source.
Note: A person who leaves a facility for another agency has transferred custody and may not have been released to the community.
New London Non-VINE Custody
Federal sentenced custody belongs to the Bureau of Prisons, not Connecticut VINELink. The BOP locator covers federal inmates from 1982 to the present and can show a past release date after federal custody ends. Federal supervised release can continue after the person leaves a BOP facility, so “not in BOP custody” is not the same as having no legal obligations.
Immigration detention belongs to ICE. The ICE Online Detainee Locator System uses immigration-specific identifiers and is aimed at current custody and certain recent cases. CT DOC says people held on behalf of ICE are excluded from its public inmate information. A person transferred from Corrigan or York to ICE has left Connecticut custody but has not necessarily entered the community.
Judicial Branch records answer a third question. They can show the court disposition behind bond, dismissal, nolle, sentence, or discharge. VINELink reports custody changes; it does not replace the court’s account of what happened in the case.
Offender registries are also separate. Connecticut’s sex offender registry can show current public registration information for people whose offenses require it, but it is not a released-inmate list. The Deadly Weapon Offender Registry Unit has its own legal scope and is not a broad public substitute for VINELink. Use a registry only for the status it is designed to report.
Verify New London VINE Results
Verification depends on the release type. Match a Corrigan or York result against CT DOC. Match a court discharge against the docket for New London Geographical Area 10, New London Judicial District, Norwich Geographical Area 21, or the court that actually handled the case. Match a parole or community-release event with CT DOC Parole and Community Services when that office has authority.
